 Baby Names over time
Name Voyager lets you find out if your parent's were ahead of their time... I think this is made in java - can someone tell me who made it and if this is open source code that different datasets can be plugged into?

 Horde of Directors
Horde of Directors is an innovative use of the They Rule data by Ian Bogost and T. Michael Keesey. It's a game! Here is the decription from the website: Horde of Directors puts the player in the role of an activist trying to advance a social agenda in the complex world of interrelated corporate and government interests. By creating simplified experience of corporate interconnectedness, the game embodies the challenges of overcoming corporate and government nepotism in the name of social causes. Thanks Ian and Michael!

 Vote with your checkbook
"Shop by Color" is the new "Anybody But Bush." Following the lead at ChooseTheBlue.com, buy a computer with Intel inside by all means, but don't get it from Dell - they are a "red" company, you could get it from the (big) "blue" IBM however. If you thought that red and blue states were ridiculous then you are going to love this. Intel is a "blue" company because it gave 53% of its donations to Democrats and 47% to Republicans. Karl Rove owns more stock in Intel ($100,000) than the difference between their party donations. If the difference was relevant then he would probably cash in his investment! When you get that Big Blue IBM computer with Intel inside you will be pleased to know that it will probably come with "blue" Microsoft's Windows XP. But a closer analysis of this proves the whole thing to be nuts. "Blue" Microsoft paid over 3 times more to the Republicans than "red" Dell. How is this possible? Because Microsoft paid even more to the Democrats. The real lesson in all of this, is that if we want to effect change through our checkbooks, we have to contend with the fact that those with the biggest checking accounts will have the most say.
The equally enormous corporate donations to both parties helps to explain why their similar pro-corporate, pro-war bigotted positions.
Boycotts may well be a tactic that the left can employ, but in this case it is worse than meaningless, it is a distraction from the real tasks we need to engage in for example: rebuilding the antiwar movement, the women's rights movement, the gay rights, and civil rights, the anti-death penalty movements. Buying things from corporations that marginally supported the pro-war, anti-gay Kerry, over the pro-war anti-gay Bush is absurd.

 Reverse Vote Swap
The time has come to show those motherf*ckers you're serious!™ It took 150 years of Republicans and Democrats to produce something as tragically funny as this website. Learn how the Kerry factor is stoping Nader from winning!
Sophisticated.

 What Barry Says
What Barry Says is a quicktime video made by Simon Robson. It is very slick. The narration is a short description of US imperialism today as seen by his friend Barry Menamara.

Want a say in the US election?
Given the the world is the world's biggest 'superpower' (euphemism for imperialist nation), shouldn't everyone who has a stake in the result of the US election have a say in who gets elected? The people behind Global Vote 2004 seem to think so. Cast your non-citizen vote and receive an email on the eve of the election letting you know the result of the worldwide poll. For what it is worth I voted for Nader!

 Wikiproxy has arrived!
WIKIPROXY!
Stef Magdalinskiis coding again, and that is good for all of us. Wikiproxy links capitalized terms in BBC news stories to wikipedia. It also uses the Technorati API to link to people who are talking about the stories. In short it improves one of the best news sites out there, and shows that there is so much yet to be done on the internet!

 Fowardtrack: map your online activism
From the FowardTrack website: ForwardTrack is a new system created by Eyebeam R&D designed to promote on-line activism. The system tracks and maps the diffusion of email forwards, political calls-to-action, and online petitions. It can trace email forwards, map the impact of blogs, and facilitate web-based sign-ups and social networking. Our goal is to help people understand decentralized networks and see the power of "6 degrees of separation." ForwardTrack technology helps prove that one person can make a difference.
